Dog-Friendly Stops in Andersonville

By May 28, 2021 December 28th, 2021 No Comments

If you’re looking for somewhere to hang out with you pup this summer, Andersonville should make your list!

Andersonville is a neighborhood in western Edgewater / Uptown. Once a sleepy little village made up primarily of Swedish immigrants, the community is particularly known for its diversity, including a continued Swedish cultural presence led by the Swedish American Museum and other Swedish businesses.

The approximate street boundaries of Andersonville, as defined by the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce, are Lawrence (4800 N) to the south, Victoria (5800 N) to the north, Ravenswood (1800 W) to the west, and Magnolia (1250 W) to the east. The heart of the Andersonville commercial district is Clark and Berwyn (5300 N). Andersonville is also an extremely popular location for our dog walking and cat care services.

While there are several places that will gladly swing open their doors to you and your pup, these hot spots made our best destination list.

Heirloom Books

6239 N Clark St

In the words of Heirloom’s founder, Chelsea Carr Rectanus, “Bookstores cherish the growth of reading, one page at a time. Chicago bookstores are heirlooms to our city, thus our name.”

Chelsea created Heirloom Books as a cozy, eclectic used bookstore, open and inviting to all, with a wide selection of books, periodicals, LPs, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, and various artwork from local artists.

Spiteful Brewing

2024 W Balmoral Ave

Owners Brad Shaffer and Jason Klein met following a spiteful incident during a hockey game on the pond when they were kids. After college, the two started aggressively home brewing, making 3 batches a week for about 3 years. From the humble beginnings on the stove, Spiteful grew to a team of 4 who help brew, package, and deliver cans, bottles, and kegs across Chicagoland.

Empirical Brewery

1801 W Foster Ave.

The brewers test new recipes on a custom 1-barrel pilot system on a regular basis with two goals in mind: explore new styles, or refine previously created recipes. This brewery is a laboratory, and they often collect feedback from their customers on our experimental recipes.

Rockwell’s

4632 N Rockwell St

Rockwells is a family-friendly, neighborhood bar & grill. With a selection of craft-beer, weekly specials and burgers known around town, Rockwell’s is your neighborhood spot for you and your pooch!

Enjoy all that Andersonville has to offer you and your pup this summer!
