At Chicago Pet Sitters we strive for our walkers to feel like they are a part of a big family, and we want to give you the chance to see just how amazing our walkers are. Once a month we will be shining a spotlight on each of our walkers to help introduce you to the people we cherish every day!

This months walker spotlight is on: Carolyn D.

Carolyn started walking for Chicago Pet Sitters in August of 2017. She quickly fell in love with all of her dog clients, which made the transition to Operations Manager quite bittersweet for her. She is excited to continue growing with Chicago Pet Sitters!

Purples!

Favorite food:
Tiki Masala

Coffee or tea:
Both!

Favorite movie:
Chocolat.
This movie is why I got my chocolatiers certificate!

What is your favorite breed of dog and why?:
I would say Pitbulls. When I lived in Michigan I would dog sit for this amazing couple who rescued pitbulls from Detroit and the surrounding areas. Those dogs are some of the most loving and well-behaved dogs, and because they had such traumatic backgrounds you can tell that they truly appreciate the kind words and love. All they really want to do is to give us love in return!

Where did you live before you moved to Chicago and what brought you to the city?:
I lived in south-east Michigan, in a little town called Hamburg. I moved to Chicago for love, so I could be with my wonderful boyfriend!

What is one of your favorite things about the city?:
All of the people! The art scene is so amazing and welcoming here, I am inspired every time I step outside.

Your favorite hangout spot/restaurant in the city?:
TropiKava in Wicker Park is probably my favorite place to hang out or just stop in to grab a smoothie, and The Spice Room in Logan Square is probably my favorite restaurant right now.

What is something about you that might surprise people when they find out?:
Probably the fact that I was homeschooled since 1st grade.

When you aren’t walking dogs or visiting with cats, how do you like to spend your time?:
Going out to eat fun foods, painting colorful landscapes, playing video/ board games, reading, watching cooking shows and then going on a baking spree and spending time with friends!

What is your favorite thing about being a dog walker with Chicago Pet Sitters?:
Exploring the city! I walked dogs in the Bucktown/Wicker Park area and I absolutely love the history you see in buildings walking down the historic boulevards.

What is one of the oddest thing you find yourself saying to the dogs you walk?:
Being a literal cheerleader when they start to go #2

What do you think is your best quality as a dog walker?:
My ability to read a situation.

What has been your proudest moment working with Chicago Pet Sitters?
Thanks to the skills I’ve learned on the job, I was able to help policemen catch a dog who had gotten away from his home with no collar on. I was able to block the road so that cars wouldn’t risk hitting him as he weaved in and out of the road, I was then able to calmly gesture him over to me so that the policemen could get a leash on him to take him home!
